Ask a teammate.
Work it out together.

Talk one to one or in a small group. Share files, open a thread, and start a call from the same conversation when you need to.

The first-week guide is drafted. Shall we add the team channels too?

I’m preparing the first-day schedule. The team introduction is on the calendar too.

Product tour with sample contentSwitch between Messages and Thread. The details of a file shared with a teammate stay with its message.

A place for the quick question, too.

Use a direct message for a question one person can answer. Create a small group when a few people need to work it out, and bring work that concerns the wider team into its channel.

  • One-to-one, self, and small-group messages

Choose a teammate to start a conversation. Add a few people to a group or send yourself a note you want to return to later.

  • Files, threads, and conversation search

Answer questions about a shared file in that message’s thread. Use conversation search to find the message where the file was discussed.

  • Voice and video calling

When a discussion needs a call, start one from the conversation header. Participants can move into voice or video from the same direct message.

  • Email-verified external contact invite

Invite a customer or partner to a conversation through email verification. This invitation does not make them a member of the workspace’s channels.

Find the conversation and what was shared.

When you look for the latest guide, the file name is only part of the story. Filter search results by messages, Canvas, or tasks. The source shows which conversation or note to return to.

Choose the Messages filter, then change the query to explore matching and empty results.

Ask the right person with enough context.

You shared the guide in a message. Start a call from that conversation to talk through the details.

  1. Choose the person

Start one-to-one or create a small group conversation.

  2. Share what matters

Keep files, replies, and calls in the same conversation history.

  3. Return to history

Find the conversation and shared files by person or content.

The answer and shared file remain in the conversation. Bring the outcome to the project channel when the wider team needs to know.

When a direct conversation makes sense.

A quick review before sharing

Send a draft to a colleague and ask for feedback on a particular section. Start a call from that conversation when it needs a walkthrough.

A small working group

Bring the people preparing a presentation into a group message. Keep preparation there and share the final update in the team channel.

Keep the audience clear.

Check the conversation information to see its participants. Share decisions that other teams need in the relevant channel yourself, and consider the audience before passing on content from a private discussion.
